OUR MISSION

Create accessible, intergenerational opportunities for all Miamians to connect to each other and foster pride through the joy of group /bloco samba percussion performance and education. By celebrating our diverse cultural stories and rhythms, we foster creativity, playfulness, tolerance, mental health, and a deep sense of belonging in our 305 that nurtures the spirit of true community resilience.

Miamibloco is a cultural 501(c)(3) nonprofit celebrating Samba and Afro-diasporic cultures in Miami through Brazilian group-style (bloco) percussion education, and performances focused on cultural exchange. Since 2017, we've nurtured a vibrant, ever-growing community that blends local percussion enthusiasts, dancers, and professional musicians. Open to everyone, regardless of musical experience, Miamibloco creates culturally-driven inclusive spaces where collective joy, connection, and a sense of belonging are held as fundamental rights for true community health and resilience.

JOY & NEIGHBORLINESS
IS RESILIENCE

Resilience isn’t just about coming together during tough times; it's about building and nurturing joy. True strength in a community comes from those joyful moments that connect people to each other and their surroundings. At Miamibloco, we bring joy to life in Miami through community Samba percussion programs, creating shared experiences that are the seeds of real resilience.

We use Afro-Brazilian and diasporic rhythms as the cultural glue that unites Miami’s diverse communities. Through performances, cultural exchanges, and education, we help people connect, learn, and thrive, making Miami a more joyful and inclusive place for everyone.

By offering programs for all ages and backgrounds, we play a vital role in creating a unified shared identity for Miami. We create spaces where everyone can come together to make music and contribute to a living cultural legacy. This shared identity fosters a deep sense of belonging and pride in our city.

Your support—whether by donating or participating—helps us continue to build these spaces and strengthen Miami's unified identity. Join us in creating a city where every beat brings us closer together.

Joining your local bloco is about more than just drumming—it's about creating a sense of playful pride in our community and finding a healthy outlet for self-expression. Through regular group practices and performances around town, we weave a stronger social fabric, making connections that resonate far beyond the music.

Miamibloco is dedicated to creating intergenerational, creative spaces where people of all ages and musical abilities come together to learn, play, and connect. The unique non-verbal communication we use, like hand signals, is a powerful tool that brings people from all walks of life together, fostering understanding and collaboration.

Playing in the Bateria is about making simple sounds come alive through complex arrangements. Every person and every instrument is essential to creating our collective joy and sound.

Traditionally, blocos are more than music and dance—they’re community-building forces that can spring up in neighborhoods everywhere. By joining Miamibloco, whether as a drummer, dancer, or volunteer, you’re becoming part of a movement that celebrates joy and unity. So come play, dance, and be part of what brings the bloco to life!
