2nd Miamibloco Saideira Social
A powerful seaside percussion journey inspired by Brazilian music traditions, the Blocos of Rio de Janeiro, and Miami's Global musical diversity. Possible through the Bandshell Laboratories + Miamibloco partnership, The Miamibloco Brazilian Social is essentially a seasonal showcase of local and world renowned artists from the African Diaspora, along with the Miamibloco Bateria Saideira.
The Fall Saideira Social took place on Monday 12.12.22 and featured 41 percussionists on the Bandshell stage, grooving and backing Brazilian music royalty: Munir Hossn, Gilmar Gomes, Gabriel Policarpo (cultural exchange artist), Baia, Rose Max & Ramatis Moraes.
We also had the pleasure and fortune to arrange original songs for the Bateria with incredible artists: Magela Herrera, Alejandro Elizondo, Musiana, Afrobeta, Mofongo de Plena and the Miami Sound Choir. Legendary Brazilian singer songwriter Mauricio Baia joins Miamibloco's Bateria Saideira's 50 member batucada on stage at the 2nd annual "Miamibloco Saideira Social" to celebrate the multicultural roots of Miami and Brazil with the classic "O Comedor De Calango E O Gerente Da Multinacional".
Dive into the heart of the Brazilian rainforest with Miamibloco’s Bateria Saideira, Samba percussion orchestra, led by the mesmerizing Magela Herrera on flute.
