Learn how to play samba and groove on traditional instruments from Brazil! For this camp we're collaborating with our friends over at Miamibloco to bring you a unique 2 day experience. Immerse yourself in the rich culture and tradition of Brazilian music, led by Mestre and Musical Director, Dr. Brian Potts.

WE’ll explore Bateria style and Roda de Samba style instrumentation, ending with a PARTICIPATORY REAL Roda De Samba, accompanying our friends “Samba da Antiga” 👁️

Bloco Beats will be a new venture for Miamibloco. If you’re brand new to Miamibloco, this weekend is a great way to dip your toes in and feel what it’s like to play in Miami’s homegrown samba bateria—these new arrangements will be tailored to include all levels, and give you a great primer for more technical development later.

If you’re already a member of Miamibloco’s Bateria Saideira, this will be a great place to learn new rhythms, try new instruments, and get some summer drumming in to hold you over until we kick off the next season in the fall. 

We’ll test out lots of new rhythms, including Cuban conga, South Indian nasik dhol, and lots more inspirations from all over the world! It’s a lab to start forming some new ideas for the upcoming Bateria Saideira season.
