MIAMIBLOCO’S Bateria Saideira Opens for LEGENDARY AFROBLOCO IlÊ AiyÊ at Inffinito Brazilian Film Festival

The original Afrobloco -- Ile Aiye holds a mythical place in the heart of Brazil. The group, a mighty drum-fueled celebration of Afro-Brazilian history, culture and pride, first began parading through the streets of Salvador Bahia’s carnival in 1974. The group formed in a house of the candomblé religion, with a name that comes from Yoruba - launched as a joyous resistance against racism and the dictatorship of the era that made carnival a whites-only event. Fifty years later, the gorgeous red-yellow-black costumes and fabric of Ile Aiye is one of Bahia’s most beloved sights. The 20+ member group of musicians and dancers is traveling across Europe and the US, including this special date at the Bandshell. This evening also includes a screening of Brazilian Beats II. . This event is a featured event in the 29th Inffinito Brazilian Film Festival.

Miamibloco 501c3 NPO is Miami's powerhouse of Carioca-style samba. This musical socio-cultural project is inspired in Brazil and homegrown by Miami’s diverse cultural tapestry. Founded in 2017 by percussionist Brian Potts and urban planner suOm Francis, Miamibloco uses Brazilian massive bloco percussion education as a catalyst to build unity, joy, resilience, and a strong collective identity for Miami.
Nicknamed "The Heartbeat of Miami" their Bateria Saideira (Miamibloco’s percussion section) fires up Miami’s melting pot, inviting everyone to connect, express, and celebrate loud through their classes and community activations in South Florida.

Fundado em 2017 pelo percussionista Brian Potts e pela urbanista suOm Francis, o Miamibloco utiliza a educação, e a força percussiva do samba como catalisador para construir unidade, alegria, resiliência e uma identidade coletiva forte para Miami.
Apelidada de “O Coração que Faz Miami Bater”, sua Bateria Saideira aquece o caldeirão cultural da cidade, convidando todos a se conectar, se expressar e celebrar com intensidade através de suas aulas e ativações comunitárias no sul da Flórida. Miami tem Batuque!
