The only Florida music event named by The New York Times as one of the “top 10 definitive music moments of the decade,” GroundUP Music Festival was founded in 2017 by Miami arts veteran and CEO Paul Lehr, and Artistic Director and Snarky Puppy bandleader Michael League. Artist-centric and attendee-focused, GroundUP blends an eclectic mix of genres to create a dynamic and varied festival experience.

Miamibloco has been part of the GroundUp weekend experience since 2017 bringing an approachable workshop style for ticket holders to embody the rhythms of Brazil and Miami.

Since 2023, Miamibloco’s performance group “Bateria Saideira” has helped facilitate the percussion workshops for all ages and abilities allowing the group to expand access for participation of up to 100 people.
